After the Fight [for jakkujedi]

It was instinct, to raise his hand. feel the smack of the weight of the lightsaber hitting the leather of his gloves and to ignite. The guard choking him dropped to the floor and Kylo had not looked round once. His gaze focused on Rey, and he pushed himself to his feet, staring over at her. His breathing was hard - from exertion or adernaline, who knew - but his gaze did not move.

"When we touched hands."

His voice was softer, not wanting to be overheard by the guards.

"I saw you. Us. Fighting together." It was how she knew he'd turn. And here he was. She wished he didn't have to be in a cell, but maybe that wouldn't be for too much longer. In the meantime, she would visit him, make sure he was alright and not lonely.

There was a slow nod.

"I saw the same." At least, that had been the first thing he saw. "I wasn't lying, on the way to Snoke," he added, "I did see who your parents are." He was silent for a moment, looking down at the cuffs. This information had been inside him since before the fight, and it hadn't brought him any joy. Kylo knew how desperately Rey wanted connection, wanted her family, and to know what he knew...

How could he take joy in it.

"I think you already know. You've just hidden it away."

"I don't want to talk about that, Ben." Rey told him quietly. Maybe he was bringing it up to push her away. It wouldn't work. "It's long in the past." But she did know, deep down maybe. Her parents weren't coming back for her. They didn't care.

"Do you mean that, or is it something you're telling yourself to escape the hurt?" There was no malice in his voice, no intention of cruelty. If she didn't want to speak about it, he wouldn't. He just... wanted to know the why.

"I don't know. Maybe both." Rey said shaking her head at him. "There are much better things we can talk about." She added. Things that didn't involve her. But she would have to see if she could negotiate some better accommodations for him.

"Things like how long until they decide it's better to kill me than to risk the First Order hunting me down to do the job themselves?" His tone is incredibly dry, the barest hint of a smirk on his face. If there was ever real proof of who's son he was, it had to be in the dry danger dialogue.

"No one is going to kill you, Ben." She told him. She couldn't guarantee it of course, but if she had any say, he would be alright. Maybe soon they'd let him out. He had turned to their side. He had fought with her against Snoke. Surely that would count for something.

"Well, no, they're hoping I'll do it myself," he commented, trying to keep a light air. Maybe that one didn't work so well.

Her expression turned to one of worry and then panic. "You're not thinking about doing that, are you?"

He had, once. Back when it had all felt too much to deal with and like he ould never escape the feelings of being lost and conflicted. But that had been years ago.

"No," he replied, "not anymore."

"Good." Rey said, calming a bit. "Because I need you here, I need you to be okay." She meant that. He was very important to her. They had a connection that only the other could understand.

"I'm fine," he said, sending the feeling of it across the Bond as well as he could, given that they weren't sure if it was still there or not. It felt like it was but could that be wishful thinking

His assurance helped a bit, but she still couldn't help worrying a little. She didn't like to see him this way, like a caged animal or something. Hopefully soon that would change.

Kylo sighed, and looked up towards the ceiling. He'd looked everywhere in the small cell, there was nothing new to him.

"I suspect my interrogation will happen within the next day or so."

"Just keep helping them." Rey said. He was their ally now, and he just needed to prove that. He was more useful alive than he was dead, despite what he might have thought.

"All the help I give will be worthless if they don't actually do anything with it." That was the thing that irritated him the most, he felt. That he was providing useful information and they weren't doing anything with it.

"They have to be cautious, surely you understand." Rey said. The Resistance had dwindled in numbers, and it wasn't so easy to just go out and attack the First Order. But Rey knew the information Ben was providing was helpful to them.

"Caution, I understand," he said. It was true, especially with their lowered numbers. However, he also knew Hux. "But with the enemy, caution will lead to more loss."

"You'll have to tell them that." She said. Rey didn't have much influence over them, even if she was their symbol of hope. "Talk to your mother."

"She'll only speak with me during interrogations," he said. "Doesn't look good for a general to be cosying up with the an ex-member of the First Order."

[jakkujedi]

She wondered if he was this difficult in his interrogations. "It's all going to work out, Ben. It has to." Of course, she couldn't say that for sure, but she wanted to believe it. Maybe if she believed it enough, so would he.

He was fairly helpful in his interrogations. Though, that was by his own estimation and his own estimation was biased in his own favour, of course. He sighed, and looked over.

"It had better."

[jakkujedi]

"It will." Rey said. She hoped she was right, but she didn't think he should have to stay in this cell indefinitely. And she'd visit him to pass the time. If they could get rid of the cuffs, even that would be something.

"Do they even have you doing anything?" He asked, curious. He hadn't seen much of anyone while he was locked in his cell, but he hadn't heard much either. Surely if people were working round about, he would hear that?
